"The Painters" by Gustave Caillebotte caught my eye immediately because although the painting seems fairly simple at a glance, it is actually full of detail. The street, the people in the background, the wall being painted, the ladder, and the men are extremely realistic. It is also interesting to see this prime example of a figure in the foreground that is clearly nearer to us than the smaller figures in the distance.
