Big Painting, no. 6
I chose Roy Lichtenstein's 1965 Big Painting, no. 6 (oil on canvas) for this week's blog because I think it fits in nicely with our class' discussions of color. This painting includes two primary colors (red and yellow) and one secondary color (green). The color's are very vibrant and intense and really stick out. Red and green are complimentary colors and I think the contrast makes each color stick out even more, however, the yellow is a little more hidden. I also enjoy how Lichtenstein utilized line to make the painting look as if it had the texture of paint strokes. Very cool!
