William Holman Hunt, Asparagus Island, 1862, watercolor and pencil heightened with white and scratching
I loved all of the cool colors in the painting-the blues and greens, the turquoise water. There is so much detail in the painting-the fine brush strokes of the water, the implied texture of the rocky part of the island near smooth sand. There is a strong sense of motion in the painting too.
