Rothko No. 61 Rust and Blue
I decided this week to blog about Mark Rothko. I know he is a topic of controversy however I decided to look at his paintings on a larger scale.I chose this painting mainly because I really liekd the colors he chose to use. The colder color scheme, I also noticed he uses so many layers of paint there really is a tremendous amount of layers and brush strokes to create each segment of the paitning. There is a sense of a landscape to me when I look at the Rothko paintings because of the horizontal lines and I do understand why so many people can dissect his paintings for a long while.
