This oil on canvas by Vincent van Gogh titled "L'Italienne" in 1887 captured my attention because of the vibrant colors used. Many basic colors such as red, blue, yellow, and green all arranged in an expressive manner that familiarizes with the Italian culture. What also appealed to me was the fact the Vincent van Gogh was having a love affair at the time when he painted this bright portrait which is pretty flattering. Other than that, the techniques used such as, brush strokes and crosshatching compliment the painting.
