"Judith Beheading Holofernes" by Caravaggio is an exquisite and well detailed painting. What caught my attention was the lighting technique Caravaggio uses by only adding candle-light to certain characters and actions. This is called the "chiaroscuro" technique and Caravaggio demonstrates it perfectly by also focusing on space and filling certain areas of the painting. Also, this Baroque piece is much better in person than in picture as I have witnessed myself. The intensity of the dark spaces and only a dim light towards the action makes the painting very dramatic.
